“Ye shall walk after the Lord your God, and fear him, and keep his commandments, and obey his voice, and ye shall serve him, and cleave unto him.” Deuteronomy 13:4
Our challenge today!
Well, it is one thing to believe in Jesus and an entirely different challenge to cleave to him. To walk after Jesus is to walk in his footsteps, to do the things that he did, such as having compassion upon the multitudes and preaching the word wherever he went. To cleave to him is not only walking the walk and talking the talk, but it is to stick to him and adhere to his words. We are to be like glue or tape that is stuck to our Master. We are to obey and serve despite how the world views this, it is the love for the world that works to separate us from Jesus. If we are sticking close to Jesus then we will never be separated. The command to cleave to him is for our good so that our enemy who desires to sift us like wheat does not devour us. Why be so heavenly minded, so zealous for God, and so close to Jesus? Because the devil wants to separate us and pull us apart from God in order to serve him.
Cleave to the Lord like glue!
